Who we are
BVM Homes is the business name of BVM Contracting, a family-owned home addition and renovation company at 80 Barbados Blvd, Unit 16, Toronto, Ontario M1J 1K9. This policy explains what personal information we collect through bvmhomes.com, our planning pages at additions.bvmcontracting.com, our website chat, and our phone and email, and how we use and protect it.
We follow Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).
What we collect
Information you give us. Your name, email, phone number, postal code or address, and what you tell us about your home and project when you download The Planning Guide, use the cost calculator, request a sample report, book a call or Feasibility Session, submit plans, use the website chat, or contact us.
Payments. When you book a paid Feasibility Session, payment is handled by Stripe. We do not see or store your full card number.
Calls and meetings. Calls with our team and virtual meetings may be recorded and transcribed so we have accurate notes about your project.
Client projects. If you become a client, we keep project information such as drawings, budgets, selections, schedules and messages in our project management system.
How you use our websites. Pages you visit, links you click, the device and browser you use, and roughly where you are (city level), collected with cookies and similar tools described below.
How we use it
To answer your questions and send what you asked for, such as The Planning Guide or a sample report.
To send planning emails about home additions and our process, if you agreed to receive them. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
To prepare for calls, Feasibility Sessions, design and construction, and to run your project if you become a client.
To understand which pages and ads are useful and to show our ads to people who have visited our websites.
To keep our forms free of spam and abuse.
Our website chat
The chat on our website is an automated assistant. It answers from articles we have published. To write its replies, the text of your conversation is sent to Anthropic, the company that makes the Claude AI model. Our system keeps conversations for 24 hours and then deletes them. If the assistant cannot answer, it may email your question, with the conversation, to our team, and we keep those questions for up to 30 days.
Please do not share sensitive details in the chat. Your name and contact details are only added to our contact list if you choose to send them through the chat's form. If you do, the conversation is saved with your contact details so we can follow up.
Cookies and tracking
We use Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager to measure how our websites are used, and the Meta (Facebook and Instagram) pixel and Google Ads tags to measure our advertising and show ads to past visitors. Our forms use Google reCAPTCHA and Cloudflare Turnstile to block spam. Our planning pages may also use Microsoft Clarity to see how pages are used.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and adjust ad preferences at Google and in your Facebook ad preferences. Blocking cookies does not stop the websites from working.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us run the business, and only for that purpose: GoHighLevel (our contact list, forms and email), Squarespace (our website), Cloudflare (website services and the chat), Anthropic (the chat's replies), Stripe (payments), Quo (our business phone), JobTread (client project management), Google (email, documents and analytics), Resend (our system emails) and Meta (advertising).
Some of these providers store information outside Canada, mainly in the United States, where it may be subject to the laws of that country.
We may also share information when the law requires it, and with the design professionals and trades on your project if you become a client.
How long we keep it
Chat conversations: 24 hours (questions passed to our team: up to 30 days). Contact and enquiry details: until you ask us to remove them or they are no longer needed. Client project records: as long as needed for warranty, tax and legal purposes.
Your choices and rights
You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time with the link in any email. You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, and you can withdraw your consent, subject to legal and contractual limits. Contact us below and we will respond within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
How we protect it
We use reputable providers with security safeguards, limit access to the people on our team who need it, and keep sign-ins and keys private. No system is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and will tell you if a breach puts you at real risk of significant harm, as the law requires.
Children
Our websites are for adults planning work on their homes. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
